And Here we are.
I can hardly believe the day is finally here. In just a few hours, my debut novel, Poncia Problems, goes on sale. My imagination is out in the world for everyone to share. Bringing Kash and Calynn, my dynamic duo, to life has been an amazing experience. I shared a meme on social media recently that truly sums up what it’s like to write them. It said: “I don’t write my characters. I just watch them do stupid stuff and write up the incident report.” This whole journey has been a labor of love, but the way the story took off on its own made it feel like hardly any labor at all. These characters consumed my mind—and here we are.
It’s surreal to reach this point, and I’ll admit, a little anxiety-inducing, too. Am I really excited? Absolutely. Am I a little scared? Sure thing. A friend gave me some very blunt encouragement a while back. He said, “You did something most people wouldn’t do or ever dreamed of doing. Even if it bombs, you have nothing to be ashamed of.” And he’s right. The mob is fickle, and you’ll never appease everyone. Hell, we can’t even agree on a favorite color, let alone a favorite book or movie. But if my story can brighten just one person’s day, then it was worth every minute.
Thank you to everyone who’s been a part of this journey—friends, family, early readers, and all of you who’ve followed along. Your support has made this possible, and I couldn’t be more grateful. Knowing that Poncia Problems is about to be in readers' hands is a dream come true, and I can’t wait to hear your thoughts on this adventure. I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: I truly hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it.
Thank you all, and happy reading,
CWT
